Obituary for Ann Stewart Kerr Humphreys

Ann Humphreys, 91, of Medina, formerly Forsyth Place, East Liverpool, passed away Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Western Reserve Masonic Community.

Born April 14, 1930, in Chester, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Vay Donahey Stewart. She was a graduate and valedictorian of the Chester High School class of 1947, and a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College class of 1951. She was a member of and past president of Alpha Xi Delta sorority and a member of the Mu Phi Epsilon honorary music sorority. Ann was a former member and past president of East Liverpool Women’s Club and a former member of Colonial Club, and the East Liverpool Country Club. She taught music in the East Liverpool schools. Ann owned and operated the Kerr Lumber Company until her retirement in 1984.

Besides her parents and brother, James E. Stewart, Ann was preceded in death by her first husband, Burton W. Kerr in 1975 and her second husband, Colonel Richard D. Humphreys in 2009.

Ann is survived by two sons, David S. Kerr and his wife Victoria of Ellicott City, Maryland, and James R. Kerr and his wife Marguerite of Medina, Ohio and grandchildren Amy Kerr Maguire and her husband Corry of Tampa, FL and Nicholas R. Kerr, his wife Margaret of Hinckley and her great-grandson Killian Kerr.

Friends may call Wednesday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Reverend Dave Maly formerly of the First United Methodist Church will conduct the funeral service on Wednesday at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for further remembrance.
