Obituary for B Fred Putnam

B. FRED PUTNAM, 98

EAST LIVERPOOL – B. Fred Putnam, 98, born in Braxton County, WV, on July 20, 1917, passed away at his residence on Fisher Ave. on Sunday evening, November 15, 2015, following a brief illness. He was 98.

A son of the late John and Lucy Dunlap Putnam, Fred served in the US Army during WW II in France, Belgium and Holland. He had also been in the CCC’s in Arizona and New Mexico.

Following a 45 year career at the former Crucible Steel Co., Fred enjoyed time with the Tri-Angle Seniors, gardening and farming. He also was a skilled stone cutter, cabinet maker, and a self-educated plumber and electrician. Fred owned and operated Fred’s Furnace Repair in East Liverpool during the 1940’s.

Fred is survived at home by his wife, Blanche Plummer Putnam, whom he married on May 12, 1940, and his two sons, Jack Putnam, and his wife Marilyn, of Bluffton, Ohio, and Richard Putnam, and his wife Debbie, of East Liverpool. There are four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Fred is preceded by two sisters and ten brothers.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday, where the family will be present from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Pastor Raul Diaz of the Cornerstone Christian Life Ministries will conduct services at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Fred will be laid to rest at the Calcutta Cemetery, with the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group providing full military honors. Family and friends will then gather at the Dawson Family Center for a time of fellowship.
