Obituary for Bertha Grace Moss (Hanlin)

RICHFIELD, OHIO – Bertha “Bert” G. Moss of Calcutta passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at The Inn at Apple Ridge in Richfield, OH.

Bertha was born in Smiths Ferry, PA on December 13, 1932 a daughter of the late Clyde and Mary (Childs) Hanlin. She was a graduate of Midland High School Class of 1950. Bertha worked as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell and then worked for American Greetings as a card merchandiser. She was a member of Smiths Ferry United Methodist Church. Bertha was a Sunday school teacher and church camp director for the former Longs Run Presbyterian Church. She was active in the community with various organizations and was passionate about donating to various causes she cared about deeply.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband James A. Moss; son Joseph Vance Moss and sister Virginia Webb.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Carol L. Moss and her wife Jodi Hall of Brecksville, OH; son Jim C. Moss and his wife Cheryl of Erie, MI; two grandchildren Michael and Ashley Moss both of Erie, MI and sister Ruth Ann Gallagher and her Husband Daniel of Calcutta. Bertha was an aunt to many others.

Friends may visit Monday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. Rev. Chuck Adkins of Smiths Ferry United Methodist Church will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Immediately following the service friends may join the family at the Dawson Family Center for a time of fellowship.
