Obituary

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Bessie L. “Bess” Staubs, 94, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at Calcutta Health Care Center.

Bessie was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on January 12, 1926 a daughter of the late Percy and Clara (Lohr) Atkinson. She worked at a top secret government job with the Signal Corps in the 1960’s and owned thoroughbred racing horses at various tracks around the tristate area.

Preceding Bessie in death were her husband, whom she married September 23, 1951, Marshall W. “Jack” Staubs and brother Percy Lee Atkinson and his wife Geneva.

Left to cherish her memory are four nephews David Lee Atkinson of Newell, Marshall R. Atkinson and his wife Rebecca of Chester, Robert C. Atkinson and his wife Melissa of Abilene, TX and James M. Atkinson and his wife Lola of New Cumberland; five great nephews Marshall Tyler Atkinson and his wife Allyson, Joshua Atkinson, Dalton Atkinson, Logan Atkinson and Nathan Atkinson; two great nieces Cortney Atkinson and Kristyn Johnson and great great nephew Marshall Kolten Atkinson and great great niece Gracynn Kennedy Atkinson.
