Obituary for Brenden Ray Falkner

Brenden Ray Falkner, 26, of East Liverpool, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017.

Born in Beaver, Pennsylvania, April 29, 1991, he was raised in Calcutta by his loving and adoring parents, Raymond and Jayma Raffle Falkner. He was the middle child to older brother, Andre’ of Erie, Pennsylvania, and younger brother, Taylor, of Calcutta, both of whom doubled as his best friends.

A 2009 graduate of Beaver Local High School he followed in his mother’s footsteps and went on to pursue a career in healthcare. He earned his Associates of Nursing degree from Trinity Health System School of Nursing, and later received his Bachelor’s degree from Chamberlain College of Nursing. He has been working as a registered nurse at Trinity Hospital since 2015. Brenden had a talent and a passion for caring for people, and was studying to get his Master’s degree in the Nurse Practitioner program at Chamberlain. His comforting touch and genuine empathy will be missed by all his patients who were quick to feel safe under his care.

He was recently engaged to his girlfriend of four years, Sierra Mahley, whom he met in nursing school; she is also a registered nurse at Trinity Hospital. In July of this year, Sierra was in New York City with Brenden’s mother and aunts; he took a road trip with his brother, Taylor, to surprise Sierra in Central Park and propose. They had plans to marry in Jamaica. Brenden and Sierra lived together in East Liverpool with their two dogs and one cat.

In addition to his parents, brothers and fiancée, Brenden is survived by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Sue Raffle of Calcutta, whose house was a second home to Brenden growing up; as well as his paternal grandmother, Loretta Falkner of Calcutta, who never missed an opportunity to boast about her boys. He also leaves behind a multitude of loud and loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whose lives are forever changed.

The family asks that when you think of Brenden, you choose to continue living life. Bear hug your brothers and play Xbox until one of you certainly gets kicked off for talking trash. Take your friends for a ride in your Jeep with the top down in the winter. Watch Game of Thrones like you didn’t read the spoilers, wear your cowboy boots like you wrote the song, and root for the Browns like they’re the next Super Bowl champs. Never stand down when your loved ones need you; we all know Brenden never did. Care for people like you’re their only hope. Sometimes you are. And sometimes he was. Think of Brenden and never stop living. The world was better with him in it.
Friends may visit Saturday at Northside Community Church, 702 Orchard Grove in East Liverpool, where the family will be present from 1 to 3 p.m. Pastor Larry Rose will conduct a memorial service, beginning at 3 p.m.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Northside Community Church Fellowship Hall.
