Obituary for Bruce Robert Weber

Bruce R. Weber, 88

EAST LIVERPOOL – Bruce Robert Weber, of Negley, passed away Saturday morning, July 2, 2022, at the Crossroads at Beaver Creek following a lengthy illness. He was 88.

Born in Negley, April 6, 1934, he was a son of the late David Eugene “Gene” and Julia Murphy Weber. He was a member of the New Waterford High School Class of 1952. Always a hard-worker, Bruce labored many jobs as a youth including farmhand, pumping gas, tending horses, landscaping, and lifeguard. He hitch-hiked his way and continued his education at Youngtown State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in education in 1956. Bruce was a high school biology and physical education teacher and coached football and basketball for the Southington School System and later at Crestview Schools.

In 1964, Bruce built and operated the Beaver Creek Par 3 and maintained the course until 1988. With his sons, he then went on to design and build Beaver Creek Meadows Golf Course, until retiring in 2008 when he moved to Greensboro, Georgia. His greatest hobbies were training and running hunting dogs, going to field trials across the nation, and riding Tennessee Walkers. His dog, “Weber’s Little Bullet” even won the National Shooting Dog Championship.

Bruce said his proudest accomplishment was his family. He taught them respect, the value of hard-work, fairness, honesty, and to never hate.

He married his “best girl”, high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Carol Ann Gorby on June 14th, 1957 and cherished her for 62 years of marriage. She passed away February 14, 2019. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Laura Josie Weber, a sister, Barbara Polen, and two brothers, Frederick Weber and David Weber.

He is survived by four children whom he was very proud of: a daughter Amy Daley and her husband, Dennis, of Markleton, Pennsylvania, and three sons: Mark Weber and his wife, Cathy, of East Liverpool, Stephen Weber and his wife, Kelly, of Negley, and Joel Weber and his wife, Dawn, of Brownsville, Ohio.

Also left to cherish his memory are nine grandchildren, Dustin Harris (Melissa), Tiffany Dornan (Blu), Patrick Daley (Gail), Katharine Daley, Markie Sue Lind (Kyle), Tyler Weber, Macy Kauzlarich (Kayla), Kenzie King (Jeremy) and Levi Weber, three great-grandchildren: Reese Carol, Adelynn Carol and Amelia Martha. as well as a sister, Trudy Scarbrough of Salem.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

The family wishes to thank all the staff at Crossroads Assisted Living and Akeso Hospice for their excellent care for Bruce in his last months with us.
