Obituary for Carlton D. Mossor

CHESTER, WEST VIRGINIA – Carlton D. Mossor, 85, of Chester passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at his home.

Carlton was born in Ellenboro, WV on November 13, 1936 a son of the late John and Rosie (Bennett) Mossor. He was an Army veteran proudly serving our country during the Korean War. Carlton worked as a pickle line operator at J & L Steel. He attended First United Methodist Church in Chester and Newell First Church of the Nazarene. Carlton loved to travel and play golf.

Carlton was preceded in death by his 1st wife Mary M. Mossor; 2nd wife Janie Mossor; eight brothers Adria “Dick”, Paul, Archie, Harley, Loy “Gyp”, Leroy “Bill”, John and Charles “Chuck” Mossor and five sisters Mary Cornell, Stellie Simonton, Nellie Mossor, Helen Enochs and Dolly C. “Tiny” Givens and stepson Larry F. Hyatt.

Left to cherish his memory are his stepchildren Donald J. Hyatt and his wife Elaine and Brenda S. Hyatt both of Chester, WV; three granddaughters JoAnn Hornick and her husband Marc of Humble, TX, Jessica White and her husband Jeff of Akron, OH and Kiesha Shimon and her husband Eric of Weirton, WV; two grandsons Tim Cox of Chester, WV and Codey Hyatt and his companion Stacy Boyles of Newell, WV; three great grandchildren Justina Shimon, Jordan Hyatt and Autumn Hyatt and many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

Friends may visit Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Stephen Hall of Newell First Church of the Nazarene will conduct a funeral service Monday 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park where Tri State Veterans Burial Group will provide military honors.

Immediately following the service, a time of fellowship will be held at the Dawson Family Center.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Melissa Hobbs for the exceptional care and compassion she provided to Carlton. She went from Carlton’s nurse to the daughter he never had.
