Charles N. “Chuck” Allison, 88

WELLSVILLE – Charles N. “Chuck” Allison, of Wellsville, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the East Liverpool City Hospital while surrounded by his loving family. He was 88.

Born in New Cumberland, May 31, 1931, he was a son of the late Harry and Beulah Talbot Allison. A member of the Wellsville High School Class of 1949, he was a member of the Eastern Ohio State Basketball Team. He then attended West Liberty University until being drafted into the service. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served in the U.S. Army as a medic in the 212th Medical Detachment and Director of the 8th Army Area Athletic Program. He then returned home and continued his education at Duquesne University.

For many years, he owned and operated Chuck Allison Bookkeeping and Tax Service. Previously, he worked as chief accountant at the former HK Porter Company.

He was active at the Living Well Church in Wellsville and a member of its board, Chuck was a familiar face in area churches where he served as a lay minister for many years. He also was associated with Kathryn Kuhlman Ministries. Chuck was a former member and president of the Southern Local School Board and founding member of the East Liverpool Christian School Board. He served the village of Wellsville as a City Council member and the Service Director at one time. He was instrumental in the planning and construction of Shoub Towers in Wellsville. He was involved in the development of the Buckeye Water District and continued to serve on the Board for many years. He was a member of the Wellsville American Legion Post 70. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and coaching little league baseball and for many years he was active in the former Babe Ruth Baseball League.

Above all things in life, Charles was a family man first and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nellie J. Crawford Allison, at home. The couple married April 27, 1957. There are three sons: Garry Allison and his wife, Christine, of East Palestine, Terry Allison and his wife, Sue, of East Palestine, and Mark Allison and his wife, Darlene, of Wellsville. He will be fondly remembered by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

My Uncle Chuck is no longer with us but is present with "His" Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I am certain he is enjoying heaven and being with Jesus, Mom (his sister Betty), and Harry and Beulah along with many friends and those whose lives he touched.
He was my favorite Uncle. I loved him very much and will always remember his encouragement in the Lord. He was a true man of God that centered his life on his relationship with Jesus and everyone that knew him, knew that! A true example others could look up to and follow his lead. He taught me how to improve my pitching while in Little League by emphasizing the importance of the leg kick! I still read and cherish the leather bound book full of Bible wisdom he gave me for High School graduation that encouraged me to combine education in school with wisdom from God. It was a life lived well. I look forward to seeing you again someday. You'll always be my Uncle Chuck!
