Obituary for Charles Lipscomb

Charles Leroy Lipscomb, 73

Charles Leroy Lipscomb, of Lisbon, passed away Thursday morning, December 23, 2021, at Washington Square Heathcare Center. He was 73.

Charles, also known as “Charlie”, was born in New Martinsville, West Virginia on May 11,1948. He was a graduate of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1966. Following high school, Charles enlisted into the Army where he proudly served in the Vietnam War as an interrogator. Upon returning home from Vietnam, Charles would go on to work many years in several steel mills. He was employed by the Crucible Steel Company in Midland, Pa., Jones & Laughlin Steel Company, and later retired from Allegheny Technologies Incorporated also located in Midland, Pa. While working full time, Charles decided to further his education and enrolled in Kent State University where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. Charles loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He took up taxidermy as a hobby and loved to watch westerns.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Erica Franklin and her husband, John, of Austintown; granddaughter Gabriella Franklin of Austintown; sister Joyce Mays and her husband, Don, of East Liverpool; brother Bill Lipscomb of Wellsville; furry companion, Chance; a nephew and three nieces.

Preceding Charles in death were his father, Billy Lipscomb, his mother, Jeanetta (Dye) Lipscomb, former wife Sally Adkins, who passed in March 2021, sister-in-law Barbara Lipscomb, and niece Bridget Reed.

Charles had many health battles that he fought so courageously over the last 19 years and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

The family would like to thank the staff at Washington Square Healthcare and Bella Care Hospice for all of their care and support.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Monday where the family will be present from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. for a celebration of life. The Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors at 6:00 p.m.
