Obituary for Charles H. "Chuck" Lucas III

Charles H. “Chuck” Lucas, III, 71

NEGLEY, OH – Charles H. “Chuck” Lucas, III, of Negley, passed away Monday morning, February 21, 2022, at Continuing Healthcare of Lisbon following a brief illness. He was 71.

Born in East Liverpool, March 4, 1950, he was a son of the late Mae Marie Zeitler and Charles H. “Luke” Lucas, Jr. A U.S. Army veteran, Chuck served with the 101st Airborne Division where he was associated with its Special Operations Group in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. He returned home after the war and worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Sue Blackburn Lucas. The couple married June 17, 1970. He was also preceded by a brother, William A. Lucas.

He is survived by his children: there are two daughters, Tammy Pritt and her husband, Tom, of Wheatfield, Indiana and Jennifer Lucas and her husband, Joshua Landsbach, of New Waterford as well as a son, Charles H. Lucas, IV, and his wife, Christin, of New Waterford. Five grandchildren survive as well: Tyler Pritt, Sylvia Pritt, Hannah Pierce, Kennedi Lucas and Charley Lucas, and two great-grandchildren, Payton Pierce and Hailey Melott.

He also leaves behind three sisters, JoAnn Williams and her husband, Tom, of East Liverpool, Joyce Montgomery and her husband, Bill, and Becky Lucas of New Waterford, as well as two brothers, Freddy Don Lucas of East Liverpool, and Jeffrey M. Lucas of Lisbon.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service, from 5 to 7 p.m. Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
