Wellsville, Ohio- Charles William Morgan, 96, of Tenth Street Extension passed away Monday, February 24, 2020 at 3:45 p.m. at the East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born May 15, 1923 at Wellsville, Ohio he was a son of the late Edwin James “Jim” and Ethel “Lily” Morgan. A lifetime area resident, he was retired in 1981 from the former Crucible Steel Company in Midland, Pennsylvania where he was a Senior Operator in the Coke Plant.
A veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II in the Pacific aboard the battleship USS Indiana BB 58. He was the oldest living member of the VFW Post #66.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Louise Davis Morgan, whom he married June 18, 1949, on March 30, 2014.
Survivors include three daughters, Lily Vennum and her husband, Dave of East Liverpool, Penny McComas and her husband, Charles of East Liverpool, and Evelyn Morgan of Wellsville; and one son, Mark Morgan and his companion, Linda Loy of East Liverpool.
There are four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by one son, Ernie Morgan in 1954, and one brother, John Morgan.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home, Inc. in East Liverpool, Ohio. Pastor Kenny Cowdry of the Avondale Baptist Church will officiate a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.
Immediately following the service family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
