Obituary for Charles ""Chink"" Sell

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Charles “Chink” Sell, 85, of East Liverpool died December 11, 2019 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Carrollton, Ohio on April 22, 1934 a son of the late Theodore and Ruth (Beckley) Sell. Charles was a graduate of East Liverpool High School class of 1952. He proudly served in the US Air Force. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Chink retired from Airco Welding where he worked as a lab technician. He also worked as a custodian for East Liverpool Schools after his retirement.

Preceding Charles in death were his sister Evelyn Curtis; six brothers Jessie, Eugene, John, Herbert, Ronald and Roy Sell and nephew Norman Curtis.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, whom he married December 3, 1955, Judy (Shiveley) Sell; two daughters Lisa Hays and her husband Jon of East Liverpool and Patricia Lynn Sell of New Castle, Co; granddaughter Emily Hays and her significant other Shane Kidder of East Liverpool; two sisters Agnes Sell of East Liverpool and Mary Margaret Green of East Liverpool and two brothers Thomas Sell and his wife Clara of Omaha, NE and Robert Sell and his wife Janet of Florida.

Friends may visit Friday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Eric Edwards of St. John Lutheran Church will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be directed in Chink’s name to St. John Lutheran Church, 400 West Hill Boulevard, East Liverpool, OH 43920 or Community Hospice 2341 East State Street, Salem, OH 44460.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Eric Edwards of St. John Lutheran Church for all of his prayers and many hours spent with Chink and his family. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Barbara, Sam and Myrna of Community Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Chink.
