Obituary

Obituary for Crit A. Smallwood

Mr. Crit A. Smallwood, 84

SALEM – Crit A. Smallwood, of Salem, formerly of Wellsville, went to be with his Lord Sunday, April 19, 2020 at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was 84.

Born in Barbourville, Kentucky, February 15, 1936, he was a son of the late Marshall Smallwood, Sr. and Dora Fields Smallwood. A resident of this area most of his life, he was a member of the Wellsville High School Class of 1954. He worked at Timet in Toronto for 30 years and later taught welding class at the John D. Rockefeller Career Center. For many years, he attended the Word of Life Chapel in Wellsville where he was the song leader.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Stewart Smallwood, at home. The couple married January 17, 1959. Three children survive: Wendy LeVan and her husband, James, of Hartville, Ohio; Lisa Anderson of Phoenix, Arizona; and Mark Smallwood and his wife, Amy, of Clemson, South Carolina. There are four grandchildren.

Also left to cherish his memory are a sister: Ruby Milliron of Beaver Falls; and a brother, Marshall Smallwood, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Wellsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.

In compliance with Ohio State regulations with concerns of the COVID-19 virus, a private family service will be conducted by Pastor Herman Tranter of Faith Chapel of Steubenville. A public memorial service will be planned in the future.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in care of the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or online at www.alz.org.
