Obituary for Curtis A. Palmer

Curtis A. Palmer, 80

EAST LIVERPOOL – Curtis A. Palmer, of East Liverpool, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Heritage Valley Beaver. He was 80.

Born in East Liverpool, May 27, 1938, he was a son of the late Curtis A. Palmer and Ruth Brown Palmer. A lifetime area resident, he was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1956. Curtis then worked at the former Crucible Steel Company and later worked at J&L Steel Company. A member of the Elks Lodge 258, he was an avid bowler in area leagues and once bowled a 300 perfect game.

He is survived by his life partner of 37 years, Leona “Lee” Swarthout, of East Liverpool, as well as his six children: Leslie Palmer-Sloate and her husband, Arthur, Scott Palmer, Julie Palmer and her boyfriend, Maurice Yarber, and Lisa Palmer, all of Santee, California, Twila Swarthout of Columbus, Ohio and Tracy Swarthout and his wife, Constance, of North Carolina. There is also a step-grandson, Marcus Sloate. A sister survives as well, Susan Montgomery Foreman of California.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Swarthout, and two brothers: Richard “Bud” Palmer and Robert A. Palmer.

Friends may visit Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
