Obituary for David Harold Fone

Columbiana, Ohio- David H. Fone, 76, of Jane Street passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at the UPMC – Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania following a brief illness.

Born May 7, 1944 in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a son of the late Paul and Maude Carpenter Fone. A lifetime area resident, he was retired from the Ferro Corp. as a foreman in 1999. He was a member of the CNC of Columbiana, was an avid fisherman and mostly he adored his family.

His wife, Fay Gillespie Fone, whom he married August 17, 1964 survives at home. Others left behind to cherish his memory are two daughters, Trudy Griffin and her husband, Timothy of Caldwell, Idaho and Jill Mercer and her husband, Shawn of Columbiana, Ohio; and two sons, Randy Fone and his wife, Dawn of Nampa, Idaho and Eric Fone of Columbiana. There are ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He also leaves behind three sisters, Barbara Cunningham and her husband, Doug, Carol Keyes and Phyllis Fone; and two brothers, James Fone and his wife, Carolee and Kenny Fone.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Lillian “Sis” Hornbeck; and by two brothers, Paul Fone and Lewis “Sonny” Thompson.

In compliance with Ohio State regulations with concerns of the COVID-19 virus, a private service will be held on Monday at Columbiana County Memorial Park where David will be buried.
