Obituary for David E. McElhaney
EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – David E. McElhaney, 79, of East Liverpool passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Heritage Valley in Beaver.
David was born in Newell, WV on September 14, 1943 a son of the late David D. and Doris M. (Whittington) McElhaney. He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1961. David worked at Crucible Steel for over 40 years as a hot metal crane operator. He held several union positions including safety and health director and general griever. David was an avid Steeler fan. He coached youth baseball in East Liverpool for many years. David enjoyed playing golf and Tuesday night poker.
Preceding David in death were his brother Frank McElhaney and sister Donna M. Cowdery and her husband Kenny.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, whom he married June 30, 1962, Martha M. (Schmidbauer) McElhaney; two sons David L. McElhaney and Dennis McElhaney and his wife Mindy; four grandchildren David A. McElhaney and his companion Tracy Jackson, Jon McElhaney, Chelsea McElhaney and her companion Tyler Flick and Wesley McElhaney; nine great grandchildren Miley, Gabby, Davey Marie, Tyme David, Ivory, Marli, Blake, Josh and Talia and sister Linda Loy.
A private service was held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
