Obituary for David R. Polk

David R. Polk, 59

COLUMBUS, OH – David R. Polk, of Columbus, formerly of East Liverpool, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus following a brief illness. He was 59.

Born in Columbus, November 30, 1959, he was a son of Richard Polk of Columbus and Joan Smith Schwimer of West Palm Beach, Florida. A member of the Vermilion High School Class of 1977, he then graduated from the Ohio State College of Barber Styling in 1984. For 30 years he worked as a hair stylist and barber in Ohio and Florida. While living in Columbus he worked at his shop on High Street where he was well regarded among the students at Ohio State and at one time he worked as a consultant with Paul Mitchell.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Gretchen Furlong and her husband, Jim, of Lancaster, New York, and Megan Dennard and her husband, Paul, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and a brother, Stephen Dysert and his fiancée, Andi, of Buffalo, New York. Two nephews also survive, Drew Doherty and Seamus Furlong.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Amy Polk.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
