Obituary for Deanna Rae "Dee" Filppula

SALEM, OHIO – Deanna Rae “Dee” Filppula, 58, of Lisbon passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Salem Regional Medical Center.

Dee was born in East Liverpool on June 22, 1964 a daughter of the late Paul R. and Norma J. (Rice) Filppula. Dee was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and was involved in God’s Choice Ministry at First Free Methodist. Dee happily attended and graduated from Robert Bycroft School, never wanting to miss a day of learning and being among loving staff and friends. After graduation she began her long and much enjoyed “Career” as a client of both EDI South and EDI Central.

Dee was blessed by many wonderful friends and neighbors throughout her life who showered her with unconditional love. She was never without a smile for friends and strangers alike. Dee was not only incredible, but incredibly and infinitely loved.

She was a proud participant of the Special Olympics winning trophies and medals for bowling, track and softball throw. Although short in stature, she won many awards for free-throw basketball.

In addition to her parents Dee was preceded in death by her nephew Phillip Johler.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister Susan Johler and her husband Rex of East Liverpool; two nieces Cynthia Johler of East Liverpool and Julie Rockey of Wheeling, WV; four great nephews Samuel Rockey, Miles Rockey, Maddox Rockey and Andrew Rollins and countless friends.

A private service was held at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park
