Obituary for Louise Palmer

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Della Louise Palmer, 87, of East Liverpool passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021 surrounded by her family at her home.

Louise was born in Wellsville, Ohio on January 18, 1934 a daughter of the late Claude and Laura (Casto) Ruckman. She was an Alumni of Wellsville High School graduating with the Class of 1951 and became one of the school’s biggest supporters. Louise worked as a waitress as a young woman, at the former Hill’s Department Store, the Courthouse Restaurant in Lisbon and in the cafeteria at Calcutta Elementary. She was a member of the Calcutta United Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. She was a volunteer that helped with the High Steppers. Louise was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Campfire Girls leader for 20 years and a cub scout den mother. Louise was the president and secretary for the Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Preceding Louise in death were two sisters Delores Welch and Velma Dickey.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, whom she married December 26, 1957, Alvin M. Palmer, Sr.; two daughters Patricia Palmer and Yvonna Palmer both of East Liverpool; three sons Alvin Palmer, Jr. and his wife Kathy, Bruce Palmer and his wife Jamie and Kevin Palmer all of East Liverpool; three grandchildren Michael Palmer I whom she helped raise, Skylar Palmer and Mackenzie Palmer; four great grandchildren Emma Palmer, Jordan Palmer, Karly Palmer and Michael Anthony Palmer II and sister Mary Gutierrez of Michigan.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Evangelist Rico Brown will conduct a service at the Funeral Home on Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
