Obituary for Dennis P. McKenzie

Dennis P. McKenzie, 85

EAST LIVERPOOL – Dennis P. McKenzie, of Rogers, passed away Tuesday morning, March 1, 2022, at the East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 85.

Born in Calcutta, August 7, 1936, he was a son of the late Paul H. and Ruth Green McKenzie. A resident of this area all his life, he was a graduate of East Liverpool High School. He later studied criminal justice at Youngstown State University and Kent State University. Dennis worked at the former Crucible Steel Company for 28 years. He then was associated with local police departments as well as the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office. A member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Dennis held membership in both the Negley Lodge 565 and the East Liverpool Riddle Lodge 315. He was also a member of the East Liverpool Chapter #100 Royal Arch Masons, Keramos Council #95 and Pilgrim Commandery #55 Knights Templar. He was also a member of the East Palestine Chapter 381 Order of the Eastern Star. A talented musician, he began playing guitar with his brother in area bands and later played with his sons.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Miles McKenzie, at home. The couple married May 12, 1970. He also leaves two sons, Rajma K. McKenzie and his wife, Kim, of Poland, and Ryan K. McKenzie at home. A brother survives as well, Marvin L. McKenzie and his wife, Linda, of Negley.

Family and friends may visit Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Rev. Norman Eckert will conduct a funeral service Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 6:45 p.m. Sunday.

He will be laid to rest at Calcutta Cemetery.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
