WELLSVILLE, OHIO – Domenica E. “Minnie” Zubay, 100, of Wellsville passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at her home.
Domenica was born in Hyde Park, Pennsylvania on June 16, 1922 a daughter of the late James and Angela (Compero) Zana. She was a homemaker but worked at the Book and Bible store in East Liverpool for a short time. Domenica was an active member of Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius where she was involved in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a rose and vegetable gardener. Domenica was a member of the Jamie James Square Dancing Club, Ohio Porcelain Artist and Ohio China Painters.
Preceding Domenica in death were her husband, whom she married June 16, 1941, Joseph J. Zubay, Sr.; two sons Steven Zubay and Michael Zubay; great grandson Timothy Walton; two sisters Catherine Bontempi and Victoria Rollero and three brothers Virginus, Joseph and Charles Zana.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons Joseph Zubay and his wife Patti and Anthony Zubay and his wife Rosa Lee; two daughters-in-law Joyce Zubay and Donna Zubay; seven grandchildren Anthony Zubay II, Brian Zubay, Cody Zubay and his fiancée Rhonda Haynes, Kristin Ninis and her husband Odiseas, Nicolette Wright and her husband Michael, Alexandra Zubay and Joseph Zubay; eight great grandchildren Anthony Zubay III, Devin Zubay, Delaney Zubay, Domenica Zubay, Hannah Zubay, Mason Zubay, Paris Ninis and Aries Ninis and three great great grandchildren Jace Walton, Grayson Fitszimons and Wesley Zubay.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Monday where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church with Fr. Leo Wehrlin as celebrant. Burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made in Domenica’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
