Obituary for James "Jim" Czech II

ANCHORAGE, AK – D. James “Jim” Czech II, of Anchorage, formerly of the Tri-State area, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019 at his home after a sudden illness. He was 61. Born in East Liverpool, November 8, 1957, he was the son of D. James and Nancy Butcher Czech. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Jacquie Martin and her husband, David, of East Liverpool, and his daughter Erica Fairchild (Sam) and grandson James, of Duncan, SC. He also leaves behind two nephews, Ian Martin of East Liverpool and Andrew Martin of Crest Hill, Illinois, along with a great-niece, Rylie Martin of East Liverpool. Surviving aunts and uncles include Pat (Robert) Trotter of East Liverpool, Greg (Connie) Butcher of Carson, WA, and Patty (Reynolds) Mook, of East Liverpool, along with numerous cousins.

A Blackhawk High School graduate, Jim worked for GCI Communications in Alaska as a project manager the past 20 years. Previously, he worked for Baker Engineering, initially as their aeriel photographer. Jim was held in high esteem for his conscientious work ethic, and by all who knew him.

Jim was an avid reader, and had a deep passion for music, as evidenced by his music room. He loved movies, and was ever in search of new and unique craft beers. His love of photography and flying began in his high school days when he took flight lessons and was yearbook photographer. He possessed a great curiosity and intellect, and loved exploring. That adventurous spirit led him to Alaska all those years ago. Jim was a 3rd degree Mason and belonged to various Music and Construction Management organizations.

Always, there was a great love for family and friends. Jim was humble and kind, and very generous. He was so appreciative of any kindness shown toward him.

Family and friends may visit Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Larry Rose will conduct a funeral service Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calcutta Cemetery.
