Obituary for Donna Kozel
East Liverpool, Ohio- Donna M. Kozel, 82, of Crestview Drive passed away Tuesday, September 6th, 2022 at 5:11 a.m. at the Weirton Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born April 6th, 1940 in East Liverpool, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Morris and Dorothy Mason Briggs.
A lifetime area resident, she was retired from her family business, Kozel Custom Drapery and Decorating. A graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1958, She was a longtime member of the East Liverpool Country Club, the East Liverpool Women’s Club, the Quota Club, the Herb Club, the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association and the East Liverpool Merchants Association. She was an avid golfer and loved to read. For the past twelve years, she and her husband spent several months a year living in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Donna is survived by her husband, William W. Kozel, Jr., whom she married December 16th, 1962, at home. There are two daughters, Julie Kozel and her companion, George Hall of Rotonda West, Florida, and Marybeth Lewis of Lake Tomahawk, Ohio.
She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Ashley Morrow and her husband, Tony, Abby Atwood, Hunter Thompson and his wife, Breann, Brooke Whitehill, Grace Whitehill, Madeline Whitehill and Matthew Whitehill; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Donna was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Hope Christine Whitehill and Hudson Richard Thompson; her son-in-law, William “Tag” Lewis; and one brother, Ronald Briggs.
In fulfilling the families wishes there will be no public visitation. A private family service was held at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio.
The family requests that contributions be made to the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association.
