Obituary for Duane J Blaner

Duane J. Blaner, 69, passed away suddenly at his home on East Liverpool Road in Lisbon, Sunday evening, May 29, 2016. He was born in East Liverpool on May 7, 1947 and had remained in this area his lifetime.

A son of the late Joseph Blaner and Sydna Smallwood Watson, Duane had attended East Liverpool schools and was a truck driver for Murray Trucking, retiring in 2014. He belonged to the St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ.

Surviving him at home is his wife, Wanda Woodyard Blaner, whom he married July 13, 1985. He is also survived by three daughters and two sons: Denise Blaner of East Liverpool; Tanya Ketchum of Lisbon; Heidi Wheeler of Wellsville; Kevin Blaner and his wife, Michelle, of Newell; and Robert Cunningham of Lisbon. There are twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Duane was preceded in death by one grandson.

Additional survivors include his sisters and brothers: Deborah Davidson and her husband, Fred, of Steubenville; Connie Rose and her husband, Kenneth, of Anderson, IN; Tammy Heddleston of East Liverpool; Kimberly Sue Michael and her husband, David, of Negley; Fred Watson and his wife, Dixie, of Olean, NY; Bruce Watson and his wife, Terry, of TN; and John Watson and his wife, Marie, of Gallipolis, OH. Another brother, Mick Watson, preceded him in death. Also surviving is “grandpap’s special little boy”, Michael Herbert Lee Emmerling.

Evangelist Will Montgomery of the church will officiate at services to be held at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Calcutta Cemetery. A remembrance luncheon will be held at the Dawson Family Center.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
