Obituary for Ed Kernich

LISBON – Edward L. Kernich, of Lisbon, passed away suddenly Saturday evening, at his home. He was 64.

Born December 1, 1957, he was a son of the late Violet C. McCoy. A lifetime area resident, he grew up and continued to live on his family’s farm. A member of the Beaver Local High School Class of 1976, Ed worked at ATI in Midland until retiring in 2015 after 38 years of service.

He enjoyed reading, traveling and loved working on the farm. Above all things in life, he loved and cared for his family and was a devoted grandfather. Ed was the best host of family gatherings, where he was in charge of barbequing dinner.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie A. Wisbith Kernich. The couple married October 5, 1985. There are three children: Ryan Kernich and his wife, Monique, Daniel Kernich, and Jessica Grafton and her husband, Joshua, and seven grandchildren: Logan Kernich, Olivia Kernich, Luka Kernich, Nicole Kernich, Caleb Kernich, Benjamin Grafton and Miles Grafton.

Also left to cherish his memory are an uncle Nickolas Ronald Kernich, and his wife Catherine, along with cousins, Vanessa Skidmore and her husband, Tim, Roberta McCarthy and her husband, Steve, Cathy Kernich, Donald Kernich and his wife, Belinda, Mary Wiebel and her husband, Rusty, and Heather Kernich, as well as many second and third cousins.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded by his stepfather, David McCoy, and three uncles, George, Michael and Robert Kernich.

Family and friends may visit Thursday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Rev. Norman Eckert will conduct a funeral service Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
