EAST LIVERPOOL – Elizabeth A. “Libby” Pickering, of East Liverpool, passed away Thursday morning, April 16, 2020 at the East Liverpool City Hospital. She was 89.

Born in East Liverpool, February 25, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Helen L. Peck McMillan. An East Liverpool resident most of her life, she was a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. A woman of strong faith, she was a member of Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church for many years where she was active with the Altar and Rosary Society and the Holy Trinity Prayer Line.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Pickering, on February 9, 1997. The couple married November 3, 1950. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Douglas Brookes.

She is survived by three daughters: Helen M. Doherty, Joyce A. Blanchard and her husband, John, and Mary M. McKnight, all of East Liverpool; and two sons: Robert J. Pickering and his wife, Patricia, of East Liverpool, and Steve F. Pickering of California. There are eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A brother survives as well, Charles McMillan and his wife, Ann, of Alliance.

A private family service will be held at the Dawson Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Parish. I'm so sorry. I just talked to her this week, and then saw in the paper that Libby had passed. I'll miss my dear friend. We talked regularly for the prayer line at Holy Trinity, and sometimes we'd call just to check on each other. She was a good friend, and I'll miss her.
