Obituary for Esther Ada Mae Perkins (Barrett)
STEUBENVILLE, OHIO – Esther Ada M. (Barrett) Perkins, 83, passed away Monday,
February 21, 2022 at Valley Hospice Care Center North.
Ada was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on January 31, 1939 a daughter of the late John G. and Mary A. (Birtcher) Barrett. Ada enjoyed cooking and taking care of family and friends. She worked in her home as a babysitter and nanny for most of her married life tending to many girls during her lifetime. The one that was most special to her was Caitlin Hjerpe originally of Poland, OH.
In addition to her parents Ada was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life whom she married March 8, 1963, James S. “Jim” Perkins; seven siblings and her best friend Ruth Keister.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Kenneth R. Perkins and his wife Becky of Mingo Junction, OH and granddaughter Kayla Cafero of Cleveland, OH.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday where the family will be present from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Pastor Norm Eckert of Beechwood Free Methodist Church will conduct a service Friday at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed in Ada’s name to Beechwood Free Methodist Church, 1029 Rubicon Street, East Liverpool, OH 43920.
