Obituary for Eva P. Petties (Evora)

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Eva P. Petties, 91, of East Liverpool passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022 at East Liverpool City Hospital ER.

Eva was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 26, 1930 a daughter of the late Gil P. and Helen (Bates) Evora. She was a member of the Tri-State Black Historical Research Team and Curator of the Black Museum. Eva worked in the cafeteria and as a crossing guard for East Liverpool City Schools. She was a licensed beautician. Eva was also a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, was an usher and sang in the ladies chorus.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband Charles Petties and sister Lucille Monroe.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Helen Moxley of East Liverpool; two sons Sherman Moxley of East Liverpool and Gil Petties of East Liverpool; four grandchildren Shana Chisom of Midland, PA, Troy Chisom of East Liverpool, Ceirra Moxley of Illinois and Brandon Moxley of East Liverpool and seven great grandchildren.

Friends may visit Tuesday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Evangelist Rico Brown will conduct a funeral service Tuesday 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
