Obituary for Lee Rigby

Lee Rigby, 79

WELLSVILLE – Francis Lee Rigby, of Wellsville, passed away Sunday evening, March 5, 2023, at the Salem Regional Medical Center. He was 79.

Born in East Liverpool, November 9, 1943, he was a son of the late Harry and Virginia Geer Rigby, he graduated from Stanton Local High School. A resident of this area all his life, he worked for Ohio Edison for over 30 years as an instrument and test supervisor. Later, he worked for Electric Furnace and Interforest. Most recently, he worked at the Calcutta YMCA before his retirement. Above all things in life, Lee loved and cared for his family, and he especially enjoyed attending all the events and sports of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Emma J. Craig Rigby, at home. The couple married May 29, 1964. There are three children: a son, James Rigby and his wife, Tina, of Wellsville, and two daughters, Christina Bone and her husband, Andy, of Newark, and Amy Possage and her husband, Lynn, of Calcutta. He also leaves four grandchildren: Zachary Anderson and his wife, Janice, Nathan Rigby, Madison Possage, and Emily Bone, and two great-grandchildren: Landon and Presley Anderson. He will also be sadly missed by his dog, Brady.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two sisters, Linda Mitchell and Diane Martin, and a brother, Terry Rigby.

Evangelist Will Montgomery will conduct a funeral service Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
