Obituary for Frank Hilliard

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Frank R. Hilliard, 89, of East Liverpool passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at East Liverpool City Hospital.

Frank was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on April 28, 1933 a son of the late Fred W. and Laura (Jennings) Hilliard. He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School class of 1952. Frank was a US Army veteran proudly serving during the Korean Conflict from December of 1953 to December of 1955. He retired from Columbia Gas of Ohio in 1997.

Frank served as a deacon and elder at the former Trinity Presbyterian Church which merged with Longs Run Church to become Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church where he now holds his membership. He started singing in the choir at the former Trinity Presbyterian Church and continued singing at Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Riddle Masonic Lodge #315, East Liverpool Chapter #100, Keramos Council #95, East Liverpool B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #258 and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War McClellan Camp # 91 in Alliance, OH.

Frank was co-chairman and treasurer of the class of 1952 reunion committee. He was a past president and vice president for the East Liverpool High School Choir Boosters. Frank was also a member of the East Liverpool Rebound Club, East Liverpool High School Hall of Fame Committee, a lifetime member of East Liverpool High School Alumni Association, Pottery Festival Board and East Liverpool High School Track Boosters. He was an active member of the Easter Pageant on the Hillside portraying the disciple of Matthew for many years. Frank also coached little league football and baseball for many years. He was known as the Avon man for many years continuing the tradition his wife started over 60 years ago.

Frank was an avid East Liverpool Potters, Ohio State and Cleveland Browns fan.

Preceding Frank in death were his wife, whom he married March 6, 1953, JoAnn Vess Hilliard; son Frank J. Hilliard; grandson Johnathan Predmore; great grandson Micah Hilliard and son-in-law Michael Predmore.

Left to cherish his memory are two daughters Cindy Lea Hilliard of East Liverpool and Lori Anne Predmore of Lincoln University, PA and six grandchildren Jeff Hilliard and his wife Lori of Ravenna, OH, Lauren Predmore of West Grove, PA, Bryan Hilliard and his wife Lauren of Fort Bliss, TX, Mike Predmore of Lincoln University, PA, Melanie Whorten and her husband Eric of Canton, OH and Ashlea Glaser and her husband Nick of Columbus, OH and several great grandchildren.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday where the family will be present from 1 to 6 p.m. Pastor Ian Leyda of Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church will conduct a service at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. Burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park where Tri State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church for a time of fellowship.
