Obituary for George Mihalich

George Mihalich, 87

EAST LIVERPOOL – George Mihalich, of East Liverpool, formerly of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, passed away Monday evening, August 12, 2019, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was 87.

Born in Ambridge, September 26, 1931, he was a son of the late John and Mary Ihnatko Mihalich. He was a member of the Ambridge High School Class of 1949 and earned an engineering degree from Yale University. For many years he worked as a loss prevention engineer at Factory Mutual in Greentree. He moved to East Liverpool in 2002 and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. In his spare time George enjoyed skeet shooting, building model airplanes and he loved cars.

He is survived by his wife Joan Ann Sarach Mihalich at home. The couple married October 14, 1966. There are two children: a daughter, Katherine A. Mihalich of East Liverpool and a son, George F. Mihalich and his wife, Alex, of Fairbanks, Alaska. He is also survived by three sisters: Joan Rhinehart of Seattle, Margie Karnavas of Baden, and Helen Huffman of Harmony, Pennsylvania. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Rev. Eric Edwards will conduct a funeral service Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church. Friends may visit at the church one hour prior to the service.
