George L. Simms, 62
EAST LIVERPOOL – George L. Simms, of East Liverpool, passed away suddenly Thursday morning, August 4, 2022 at the East Liverpool City Hospital. He was 62.
Born in East Liverpool, July 18, 1960, he was a son of the late Lemoyne T. “Shorty” and Ethel Lou Sprout Simms. A resident of this area all his life, he was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1978. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the 82nd Airbourne Division at Ft. Benning and also served in Italy. He worked at ATI in Midland. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all things in life, George loved his family and especially cherished the trips he would take his grandchildren on.
He is survived by his children: a daughter Kayla Woodyard and her husband, Bradley II, and two sons, Robert Simms and Logan Simms, all of East Liverpool, as well as four grandchildren, Natalie Woodyard, Talon Woodyard, Gresyn Simms and Hunter Simms. He is also survived by his companion, Rachel Owens, of East Liverpool.
There are three sisters, Terri Bachusz and her husband, Paul, of Indiana, Cammy Snyder and her husband, Dave, of Fairborn, Ohio, and Tammy Carroll and her companion, George, of East Liverpool, along with a brother, Dennis “DJ” Simms and his wife, Regina, of Irondale.
Friends may visit Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Kim Gadd will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park. Following the service, friends and family will gather at the House of Prayer for fellowship.
