Obituary for Gerald G. Meek

Gerald G. Meek, 88

NEGLEY, OHIO – Gerald G. Meek, of Negley, passed away Saturday evening, September 21, 2019 at his home. He was 88.

Born in Middleton Township, June 4, 1931, he was a son of the late Raymond E. and Joan March Meek. A 1949 graduate of New Waterford High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. He worked at the former Crucible Steel Company until his retirement in 1982 after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir.

His wife survives at home, Ethel M. Meek, whom he married in 1967. There are two sons: Raymond Meek and his wife, Karen, of Negley and Weston Meek of Negley, as well as a step-daughter, Connie Dunn Branner and her husband, John, of Athens, Ohio and a step-son, William A. Dunn and his wife, Angie, of St. Augustine, Florida. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Franklin and four brothers: Edwin, Virgil, Bob and Herman Meek.

Friends may visit Wednesday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. Pastor James N. Rhodes will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
