Obituary for Gladys Lorraine Alford (Higgins)
Salineville, Ohio- Gladys Lorraine Alford, 80, of East Main Street passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 2:45 p.m. at the Lisbon Continuing Health Facility following a lengthy illness.
Born February 5, 1941 in Newell, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Charley Higgins and the late Clara E. Burgess Higgins Kirkham.
She spent her entire lifetime in this area retiring from the Ohio Valley Home Health Care working as an aide and also in their office for many years.
Preceded by her husband, Paul Alford, Jr., whom she married September 27, 1958, on January 6, 2020.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth “Beth” Butler and her husband, Charles of East Liverpool, Ohio, and Paula Moore and her husband, William of Hanoverton, Ohio.
There are eleven grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, Gladys was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lorraine Johnson; one son Paul “P.J.” Alford; and two sisters, Nina Bayer and Mary Ann Allison.
Friends may visit the family on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. Pastor Ted Ludwig of the Everyone’s Welcome Church in Salineville, Ohio will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
