Obituary for Gladys Mae Means (Shields)

CALCUTTA, OHIO – Gladys M. Means, 95, of East Liverpool passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Calcutta Health Care Center.

Gladys was born in Chester on August 30, 1924 a daughter of the late Hobert and Violet (Wolfe) Shields. Gladys was a member of Campground Community Church. She was also a member of the Social Order of Beauceant and Order of the Eastern Star Crystal Chapter 18. Gladys retired in 1982 from Hall China as a gold liner and decorator.

Preceding Gladys in death were her husband Ira Morris Means, Jr; son Robert M. Means; two daughters Betty Taylor and Margie Mosser; four sisters Patty Shields, Grace Ours, Shirley Gutierrrez and June Chuck; five brothers Ray, Bert, Bill, Jack and Jim Shields and five grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her granddaughter, who took care of her, Kathy (Biser) Heath of Salem; sister and Florence Reed of Calcutta; ten grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday where the family will be present from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. where Pastor Tom Adkins will conduct a funeral service Wednesday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
