Obituary for Gerry Deiderick

Gerry Deiderick, 79

CLEVELAND, OHIO – Helen “Gerry” Deiderick, of Boardman, formerly of East Liverpool, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at University Hospital Seidman Cancer Center. She was 79.

Born in East Liverpool, August 24, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd H. and Elaine (Grosscross) Zeigler. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1957, she was a devoted homemaker. She cared for her husband and children and welcomed all into her home. Family and friends will remember the many holidays and celebrations orchestrated by Gerry that were always filled with laughter and great food. She embodied grace and kindness during the many years that she cared for her aging father and mother-in-law. She was an amazing grandmother to six grandchildren, always ready to play a game, read a book, or attend one of their many athletic events or artistic performances. She never never forgot a birthday or an important milestone. Travel was also a source of great joy for Gerry. She had been all across the country from Maine to California, Florida to Alaska. She also enjoyed international travel to the Caribbean and the Panama Canal. Her favorite trip was to Australia and New Zealand.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin “Terry” Deiderick, at home. The couple married September 15, 1959. There are two children: a daughter, Heather Deiderick and her husband, Andrew Ellington, of Austin, Texas, and a son, Edwin Christopher “Chris” Deiderick and his wife, Tatiana Low, of Norwalk, Ohio, as well as six grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Lloyd Zeigler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie DuPont, and a brother, Richard Zeigler.

Rev. Norman Eckert will conduct a graveside memorial service Saturday, June 29th at 2:30 p.m. at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
