Obituary for Helen Karmie Wardeh

Clermont, Florida- Helen Ruth Karmie Wardeh, 84, of Snowdon Street passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 10:08 p.m. at the Compassionate Care Hospice Center in Canton, Ohio following a brief illness.

Born October 16, 1936 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Verna Davis Light. She spent the last 21 years living in Florida moving there from Columbiana County, Ohio. A retired schoolteacher with the East Palestine School System, she last taught in 1997.

She was a member of the Geneva Reform Presbyterian Church in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Once she moved to Florida, she was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Clermont, where she served as a deacon, taught Sunday school and served the church in various other capacities. She was a graduate of Geneva College Class of 1959.

Helen was an amazing woman who loved her family dearly. She spent her lifetime serving God and serving others. She leaves a legacy of caring, kindness, love and joy. Her smile was contagious and she always gave more than she ever expected to receive.

Her first husband, Fred Karmie, whom she married August 22, 1959, passed away on September 13, 1987.

Survivors include her second husband, Sadik Wardeh, whom she married June of 1999, at home; four sons, Jim Karmie and his wife, Tammy of Clarksburg, West Virginia, Ken Karmie and his wife, Denise of Ravenna, Ohio, Dale Karmie and his wife, Lorie of Louisville, Ohio and Brian Karmie and his wife, Angie of Louisville.

There are eighteen grandchildren, Victoria Evans and her husband, Travis, Alexis Karmie, Brittany Karmie, Ashley Karmie, Bethany Adkins and her husband, Corey, Alexandria Van Riper and her husband, Josh, Justice Karmie and his wife, Rachel, Brooke Karmie, Baylie Karmie, Derek Karmie and his wife, Tess, Kaylyn Karmie, JenniLee Karmie, Colton Karmie, the late Makenna Karmie, who passed away in 2018, Julia Karmie, Paige Karmie, Meredith Karmie and Ava Karmie.

In addition there are six great-grandchildren, London Evans, Sullivan Evans, Carter Adkins, Liberty Adkins, Kaden Karmie and Averi Karmie.

She also leaves behind two sisters, Mary McMinn and her husband, Robert of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and Jean Creighton and her husband, Gary of Altoona, Pennsylvania.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Martha Shay.

Friends may visit the family on Monday, January 25th, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Northside Church at 702 Orchard Grove in East Liverpool, Ohio. Pastor Larry Rose of the church will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the church. The Dawson Funeral Home of East Liverpool is in charge of all local arrangements.

Burial will be in the Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Darlington, Pennsylvania.
