Obituary for Howard Wayne Bosworth

East Liverpool, Ohio- Howard W. Bosworth, 83, of Cartwright Street passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 4:10 p.m. at the East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born April 25, 1936, he was a son of the late Hollie and Alice Henderson Bosworth. A lifetime area resident, he was retired from the United States Army serving 31 years and leaving the service as a Master Sargent. He served during the Korean War and the Viet Nam War. After leaving the service, Howard worked at the former Crucible Steel Company in Midland, Pennsylvania for 19 years as an electrician retiring from there in 1982. He also served with the East Liverpool Police Department from 1958 to 1962.

A member of the Boy Scouts of America for more than 60 years, he was a Scout Master of Troop #34, an advisor of the Explorer Post #34, a 34-year staff member of Scout Camp, and he belonged to the Order of the Arrow. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge Perry #185 in Salem, Ohio and was a member of the Eastern Star Crystal Chapter # 18. For more than 40 years, he was involved with the Camp Fire Organization in East Liverpool, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Baumgard Bosworth, whom he married February 12, 1960, at home. There are two daughters, Joanie Beckim of Wooster, Ohio and Susan Anderson and her husband, Tim of Hanoverton, Ohio.

In addition, he leaves behind five grandchildren, Hannah Campbell, Jennifer Young, Sarah Anderson, Joe Anderson and Haleigh Anderson; and four great-grandchildren.

He also leaves behind one sister, Dollie Marinucci and her husband, Jim of Cambridge , Ohio; and one brother, Arthur Bosworth and his wife, Judy of East Liverpool, Ohio.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Daniel Bosworth in 1973; three sisters; and four brothers.

Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. Reverend Chuck Adkins of the 1st Church of Christ (Disciples) will officiate a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Immediately following the service family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
