Obituary for Howard L. Grove

Howard L. Grove, 79

BOARDMAN, OHIO – Howard L. Grove, of Canfield, formerly of East Liverpool, passed away suddenly Friday morning, December 13, 2019 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Boardman. He was 79.

Born in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania, July 6, 1940, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mary Mock Grove. He was a graduate of the Williamsburg High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. For many years, Howard worked as a construction electrician with the IBEW. Following his retirement, he was a bus driver for the East Liverpool City School District. He was a member of the Oakland Free Methodist Church where he was a trustee at one time and also taught Sunday school.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Estel Grove, at home. The couple married January 21, 1989. There are two sons, Thomas Grove of Darlington, Pennsylvania and Charles Grove and his husband, Brooks, of Philadelphia and a daughter, Kristine Hayden and her husband, Keith, of Congers, New York. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Angela Steed and her husband, Kevin, of Berlin Center, and a stepson, Frank Briceland and his wife, Cheryl, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina. There are eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

He also leaves a sister, Lois Hatchell of Florence, South Carolina.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Ross, and two brothers, Bill and John Grove.

Friends may visit Monday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. Rev. Carol Forsythe will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Oakland Free Methodist Church for fellowship.
