Obituary for Ivan Ray Jackson

Glenmoor, Ohio- Ivan Ray Jackson, 80, of Cannons Mill Road passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at 10:20 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio following a lengthy illness.

Born June 26, 1938 at East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a son of the late Earl and Iva Josephine “Josie” Ward Jackson.

He spent his lifetime in this area retiring from the CCCTC / Columbiana County JVS as a custodian. Prior to that he had also worked for Adamson Tank in East Palestine and for the St. Clair Township Street Department.

A veteran of the United States Air Force and later the Air Force Reserves, he was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1957. He loved music and was a member of two different country bands over the years, The Townsmen and Country Persuasion.

His wife, Lynne Christen Jackson, whom he married January 29, 1990, survives at home. There are two daughters, Cindy Lee Jackson of Guy, Arkansas and Joy Lynne Gillespie and her husband, Tim of Glenmoor; and one son, Matthew John Jackson at home. There are four grandsons; and his faithful four legged companions, Scooter and Lady.

He is also survived by one sister, Sondra Walker and her husband, Roger of West Point, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Frances H. “Sis” Adkins; and four brothers, Kenneth Jackson, Wayne Jackson, Earl E. Jackson and Ralph Jackson.

Friends may visit the family on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool. The Rev. Dr. Vel Vais of the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church will officiate a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Immediately following the service family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
