Obituary for Jack D. Reynolds Sr.

Jack D. Reynolds, Sr., 83

CALCUTTA – Jack D. Reynolds, Sr., of Calcutta, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019, at his home. He was 83.

Born in Newell, May 19, 1936, he was a son of the late Margaret Ellen and James Orville Johnson. A resident of this area all his life, he was a graduate of Wells High School. He began his career with Goodyear in 1953 and was the manager of the East Liverpool store until his retirement after 35 years of service. In 1978, Jack and his wife Lynda purchased Crook’s Furniture and operated the store until 2000. They also owned and operated Reese Jewelers.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge 258 and the VFW Post 66. He was instrumental in the development of the Third Street playground in Chester located in the former Central School lot.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda L. Reynolds. The couple married November 23, 1956.

He is survived by three daughters, Terri Reynolds of East Liverpool, Barbara “Barbi” Shaw and her husband, Kenny, of Chester, and Debra McIlvain of Chester, and a son, Jack D. Reynolds, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of New Cumberland. There are six grandchildren: Jeremy Temple, Joshua McIlvain, Jedidiah McIlvain, Jonathan Shaw, Joey Shaw and Lyndsay Reynolds, as well as three great-grandchildren: Carson Temple, and Zach and Zeke Shaw.

He is also survived by his sister, Sandy Karnes of Chester, as well as his companion Charlotte Fullerton. He will also be survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from noon to 8 p.m. Jack’s grandson, Jonathan Shaw will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

There will be an Elks service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Burial will be at Locust Hill Cemetery.
