Obituary for Jacqueline Roberts (Zaplata)

Jacqueline Roberts, 84

EAST LIVERPOOL – Jacqueline Roberts, of Broadway Avenue, Wellsville, passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Orchards of East Liverpool. She was 84.

Born in East Liverpool, August 16, 1931, she was a daughter of the late James Moor and Julia Zaplata Dimmerling. A member of Immaculate Conception Church where she was a CCD Teacher for 25 years and she worked at the Pioneer Pottery for many years.

A member of the Lady Knights of Columbus, she enjoyed her friends from her many clubs and activities, especially the Senior Links where she currently served as treasurer of the organization.

She is survived by her husband, Frank J. Roberts at home. The couple married February 15, 1951. She is also survived by two daughters: Suzy Brdar and her husband, John, of Massillon, Ohio and Jacqueline DeSarro and her husband, Frank, of New Waterford, Ohio, and four sons: James “Kit” Roberto and his wife, Becky, of Lisbon, Ohio, Frank “Butch” Roberto, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, Rick Roberto and his wife, Penny, of Canton, Ohio and John Roberto of McDonald, Ohio.

There are 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Sisters surviving her are Janet “Punky” Yost of Grants Pass, Oregon, and Joan Garcia and her husband, Abe, of Las Vegas, Nevada.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Moor and two sisters, Virginia “Peggy” Moor, and Jean Steffen as well as her step father James Dimmerling.

Friends may visit Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. Fr. Ed Brienz will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial service Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church.

Burial will be at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Wellsville.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
