Obituary for James D. "Jimmy" Calkins

LISBON, OHIO – James D. “Jimmy” Calkins, 51, of Lisbon passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021 at his home with his family by his side.

Jimmy was born in Torrance, CA on March 15, 1969. He was a graduate of Beaver Local High School class of 1987 and graduated from YSU with a Bachelor Degree in 1998. Jimmy was a veteran serving in the Air Force from 1989 to 1992 as an electric power production specialist. Jimmy worked at SES in Alliance for 15 years as a mechanical engineer. He was the former co-owner of Hot Diggities in Calcutta.

Jimmy was a proud member of the Guilford Lake Dead End Gang and a former member of the East Liverpool B.P.O Elks # 258. Jimmy lived his life to the fullest; he loved camping trips to Michigan, family reunions, and his lake life – which included boating and spending his weekends with friends and family at “Cheers” – the backyard Calkins Cabana.

Preceding Jimmy in death were his father Michael R. Calkins; paternal grandparents John and Jane Calkins and maternal grandparents Kessel and Sudia McComas.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 22 years, whom he married June 27, 1998, Milli (Sayre) Calkins; son Keegan Calkins; mother Betty (McComas) Calkins of East Liverpool; sister Tammy Bauer and Rick of East Liverpool; nephews Nicholas Pittenger and Emily of Washington, Joey Pittenger and Matt of Cincinnati, OH, Collin Warrick of East Liverpool, Christopher and Jeremy Pietryk both of North Carolina; Niece Jordi Warrick and Robert of Akron; several great nieces; a great nephew and furry friend Layla.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday where the family will be present from 3 to 7 p.m. In compliance with Ohio state regulations with concerns of the COVID-19 virus masks must be worn at all times in the funeral home.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
