James “Jim” L. Chapman, 75

SANDUSKY - James L. “Jim” Chapman, 75, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Friday, July 15, 2016 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, Ohio.

He was born on November 17, 1940 in East Liverpool, Ohio to Olaf and Alberta (Creamer) Chapman. On August 25, 1962 in East Liverpool, he married Cheryl D. Andrason, and she survives. Jim worked as a quality control inspector and tow motor operator for Consolidated Container Company for 25 years, which made containers for Quaker State Oil.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton, and a former member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, East Liverpool, where he helped Sister Monica start the Ceramic City Senior Center. Jim worked as the maintenance manager for the Ceramic City Senior Court, and was co-manager with his wife for Blossom Hill Apartments. Jim enjoyed his CB Radio room at home and riding his motorcycle.

In addition to his loving wife of 53 years, Cheryl, he is survived by his daughter, Marcie Gruenberg, and grandchildren, Julia (Terrence Kurylo) Gruenberg and Jason Chapman. There is a great-grandchild, Jonathan Chesney, and nieces, Dawn Chapman, Candice Hozza, Mary Matthess, and Cyndi Young.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, as well as a son, Robert “Bob” James Chapman, and brothers, William “Bill”, Jack, and Robert “Tom” Chapman.

A Catholic Funeral Liturgy for Jim will be celebrated by Father John Misler at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton.

A memorial service for Jim and son Bob will be celebrated by Father Peter Haladej at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Dawson Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment for both will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
