East Liverpool, Ohio- The Lord called home James E. Lowe, 95, formerly of Harding Avenue on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 5:58 p.m. at the Hilliard Assisted Living Center in Hilliard, Ohio following a brief illness. He is now rejoicing with the Lord and his loving wife of 47 years.
Born August 13, 1924, he was a son of the late Edward and Marie Olinger Lowe. He spent most of his life in East Liverpool retiring from the former McIntosh Hemphill Steel Company in Midland, Pennsylvania. Prior to that he worked as a liner at the Homer Laughlin China Company in Newell, West Virginia. A veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army’s Cannon Company 104th Infantry serving in the Pacific Theatre where he was a Staff Sargent. He was a member of the former Trinity Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder & Trustee for many years and he belonged to the East Liverpool Lions Club, where he was a Past President and “Lion of The Year”. He was also very devoted to the FISH organization.
His wife, Wanda E. Lowe, whom he married June 10, 1946, preceded him in death on July 28, 1993. Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Weaver and her husband, John of Dublin, Ohio; and two sons, Allen Lowe and his wife, Jayne of Grove City, Ohio, and James E. Lowe II and his wife, Christine of Venice, Florida.
There are five grandchildren, Traci Weaver Bentley, Michael Weaver, Kyle Lowe, Evan Lowe Simon and Zachary Lowe; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Lowe.
Friends may visit the family this Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Vel Vais of the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church will officiate a funeral service this Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
The Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will accord Full Military Honors.
Immediately following the service family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
