Obituary for Jim McCoy

James F. “Jim” McCoy, 88

EAST LIVERPOOL - James “Jim” F. McCoy, Sr, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2021 at East Liverpool City hospital. He was 88.

Born in East Liverpool on March 6, 1933, he was the son of the late Keim and Goldie (Hughes) McCoy.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Rosetta Gilbert, Vera Conaway, and Virginia McComas.

He is survived by his son, Frank McCoy and his wife Heather, of Gibsonia, PA; his grandchildren Carson, Kylie, and Brayden McCoy; his girlfriend Barbara Heldman; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jim was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952 and served until 1955. He then had a lengthy career at Homer Laughlin China Company where he worked as a mould maker. He retired in 1998.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his nieces, nephews, and cousins and he quickly became a favorite uncle and second father to many of them. He loved coffee, always had a good story to tell, and no one was a stranger to him. His greatest joy in life came when he became a father and then later a pap pap.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Dawson Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2021. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to your favorite charity in his name.
