Obituary for Jim Morehead

James C. Morehead, 70

EAST LIVERPOOL – James C. “Jim” Morehead, of East Liverpool, passed away Tuesday morning, May 17th, 2022, at East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 70.

Born in East Liverpool, a son of the late and Edward and Gladys Cain Morehead. Most recently, he worked as a supervisor at Metch Refractories until his retirement. Previously, Jim worked at TS&T Pottery, the East Liverpool Street Department, and the Ferro Corporation. At one time, he and his brother operated a construction business.

He was a member of Kiwanis where he was instrumental in the development of the local soccer league and served as the commissioner. He was active with the former East Elementary PTO where he was the vice-president.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Mays Morehead, at home. The couple married September 4, 1969. Together they raised two sons, Jimmy Morehead and his wife, Jen, and Ryan Morehead and his wife, Jennifer, all of East Liverpool. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Gwendolyn, Dannielle, Loyd, Nikki, Mike, Devyn, Azlynn, Nerys, Loyd IV, Bella, Mitzi, Cory, Michael, and Rachel and John Biscoe, as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.

He also leaves behind three sisters, Barb Morehead, Terry Mayfield and Sue Volino and her husband, Paul, and three brothers, Eddie Morehead and his wife, Evelyn, Gary Morehead, and Kenny Morehead, along with two brothers-in-law, Ray Betteridge and Steve Smalley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Betteridge and Linda Morehead, and two sisters-in-law, Vivian Smalley and Diane Morehead.

Private family arrangements have been completed at the Dawson Funeral Home.
