Obituary for Jean Adkins Stoffel

STUART, FLORIDA – Jean Marie (Hallett) Adkins Stoffel, 85, formerly of East Liverpool, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2019 at Stuart Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Stuart, Florida.

Jean was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, on October 5, 1934. She graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1952, and married Jerry Foy Adkins in October of 1954. Jerry was a police officer in East Liverpool until his untimely passing in 1975. Jean was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was the President of the Business and Professional Women in ELO and worked for many years at The First National Bank. She was an active member of the community in many ways. Her greatest achievement was raising five children while working full time, and for many of those years as a single mother. In 1987 she married Donald Stoffel and moved to Jensen Beach, Florida, where she resided until her death. While in Florida she worked at Chlorinators Incorporated for many years.

Preceding Jean in death was her 1st husband Jerry F. Adkins, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Donald Stoffel, of Jensen Beach, FL; five children Tina Adkins Wang and her husband David, Daniel Adkins and his wife Susan, Jerry Adkins Jr. and his wife LuAnne, Joel Adkins and his wife Janice and Charles Adkins and his wife Tracy; three step children Pam Wilson and her husband Al, Nancy Saunders and her husband Jaye and Steve Stoffel; half sister Mary Mills; thirteen grandchildren; three step grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.

Friends may visit Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 9 to 11 a.m. Brother Eric Clark of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will conduct a funeral service Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a gathering following the graveside at East Liverpool Area Community and Learning Center at 110 Maine Boulevard, next to East Liverpool High School.
