Obituary for Jenny L. Hester (Williams)

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Jenny Lee Williams Hester, 89, was reunited with the love of her life on Valentine’s Day. She died peacefully at home Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021.

She was born in East Liverpool Nov. 9, 1931, a daughter of the late William J. and Rebecca Nesbit Williams, and was graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1950.

Her husband of 59 years, Andrew William Hester, died in 2011. Their family includes Andrea Adkins and her husband, Larry; Cathy Seckman and her husband, Randy; and Margaret (Maggie) Kestner, all of East Liverpool. After becoming grandparents, Andy and Jenny came to be known as "Pap" and "Nan" to their extended family. Their grandchildren are Tim Adkins of Washington, D.C; Eric Adkins and his wife, Laurie of Cumming, Ga; Laran Hyder McGarr and her husband, Sean, of Boston, Mass., Zakary Kestner of East Liverpool; and Morgan Kestner Roush and her husband Jacob of East Liverpool. Nan and Pap were blessed with two great-grandchildren, Cameron Adkins and Madelyn Adkins of Cumming. She also has two grandsons by choice, Stephen Flores of Boardman and Yoshio Takashima, PhD, of San Diego, Ca. In addition she is survived by a brother, Dave Williams, and his wife Marilyn of Wellsville; a sister-in-law, Kate Williams of East Liverpool; and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Sarah Tatgenhorst and Pearl Lonkert, and brothers John, William (Bud), Charles, Bob, Tom, and Don.

Jenny lived her life as a homemaker, and was an active volunteer for St. Aloysius School, the LaCroft Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, LaCroft Neighborhood Watch, the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association, and FISH food bank of East Liverpool. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius, and met monthly with her high school class.

Famous for her big, welcoming heart, Jenny informally adopted an eclectic mix of strangers to be part of her tribe. Across the decades, Jenny befriended folks she met while volunteering, and she invited those who traveled through LaCroft to spend time visiting on her porch. Her beloved husband Andy christened them as “her people.”

The family thanks the Community Hospice staff for their caring and compassionate attention.
