Obituary for Jonathan A. "Stew" Stewart

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Jonathan A. “Stew” Stewart, 40, of East Liverpool passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at his home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with ALS.

Jon was born in East Liverpool, OH on September 29, 1982. He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 2000 and attended Kent State. Jon worked as an assistant table games manager at Mountaineer Casino for 18 years and as a security specialist FRXHealth. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. Jon enjoyed the outdoors. He shot pool in a league. Jon was a loving and caring person always thinking of others. He loved spending time with his wife and kids. He was very involved with his kids sporting events coaching baseball and basketball.

Preceding Jon in death were his maternal grandparents David and Deloris Hall; paternal grandfather Marvin Stewart and paternal grandmother Carol Tanner.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 6 years, whom he married June 27, 2016, Rebecca (Melott) Stewart; daughter Aubrey Stewart; son Drake Stewart; parents Terry and Karen (Hall) Stewart; brother Terry Stewart and his partner Lauren Monks; sister Amber Salsberry and her husband Tim; nieces and nephews Devon, Jaymin and Emma Salsberry and Eli and Claire Stewart and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Tuesday where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Eric Edwards of St. John Lutheran Church will conduct a service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial at Cresthaven.
